This no-prep unit addresses the following essential question, “What is the size and shape of Earth?” Our home planet, Earth, is the launch pad for learning and understanding other bodies in our Solar System. Planet Earth has distinguishing features and is characterized as an oblate spheroid. Throughout this lesson, students will study proofs of the Earth’s shape and will take a closer look at the Earth’s four major spheres: the atmosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere and litho/geosphere.
