This presentation on stellar evolution focuses on the following essential question, “How do we classify stars in the universe?” Each stage of a star’s life cycle is highlighted. Students learn how to use the Hertzsprung-Russell (H-R) diagram to categorize stars into main sequence, giants, supergiants, and white dwarfs.
The presentation is estimated to take approximately 30 minutes of class time. Guided notes are included for students to fill in while listening to and following along with the presentation. Practice questions are included at the end of the presentation to reinforce the newly introduced topics and skills.
